I think playing blitz can be a good way to practise openings and tactics, but if you play it too much you may get impatient with analysis in longer games. At least, it seems like that has been the case for me ;)

Blitz games are good to play on-line, cause you take those program users out of the board. But I do agree with you about impatience. Nothing like having time to analyse and re-analyse, in order to make at least "OK" moves. But in my case, no matter if I think forever or 5 sec. Blunders are my shadow, anyway...(unfortunately LOL).
