Game over - Kasparov and the Machine

This is definitely one of the best chess-related videos I have ever seen. Enjoy it and here's to a great weekend!

PART 1

Part 2
Part 3
Part 4
Part 5
Part 6
Part 7
Part 8

When you finish watching all of the parts, feel free to post what you think about the match that took place between Kasparov and Deep Blue.

Well-made, and fascinating on many levels, especially for the insight into Kasparov's personality, both as a chess player and a human being.

I do not believe that Deep Blue's developers had shady motives, but it is likely that their decisions were influenced by IBM executives. Given the corporate interests involved in the outcome of the game (and the dodgy and intransparent behaviour on IBM's part) I find Kasparov's suspicions not completely unwarranted, although the commentator certainly has a valid point when he mentions that chess masters have a natural tendency towards paranoia.

I'm siding with Kasparov on this one.

Taking out the opening book and playing with the software during the match is disgusting behaviour.

Refusing a re-match... worse!

I finally got to watch the rest of this and was pretty shocked. Kasparov makes some fantastic points and they have logic behind them. Goliath (IBM) did win the match, but by not handing over the logs to arbitors after the match and just stopping while there ahead couldn't be any more childish! Simply appalling!
